India quick Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fees for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday, September 13. Gaud was found to have violated Article 2.5, a Level 1 offense concerning actions, gestures, or language that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal in an international fixture. Alongside the financial penalty, she has received one demerit point, representing her first offense within a 24-month period.

The incident occurred in the opening over of Sri Lanka’s chase. On the first delivery, batter Imesha Dulani scored a boundary with a lap shot off Gaud. Three deliveries later, Dulani was dismissed trying the exact same shot, prompting a pumped-up Gaud to give her a send-off by gesturing toward the pavilion. Gaud accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, making a formal hearing unnecessary.

Separately, Pakistan’s team was fined five per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate during their semi-final match against Sri Lanka. Pakistan was ruled to be one over short of the required target once official time allowances were factored into the equation.

Chasing 131 in the semi-final, Sri Lanka reached the target in 18.4 overs. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted the over-rate sanction without a hearing after the charge was leveled by fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan.
