Pop artist Pink is commemorating the 25th anniversary of her breakout hit, “Get the Party Started.” Marking the milestone on Instagram, she shared a compilation of live performances alongside the track’s original music video, thanking her audience for their sustained enthusiasm. “Twenty-effing-five years. Can you believe it? You’ve been screaming this song louder than me since 2001, and I’ll never get sick of it. Thank you for showing up to this party every single time,” she wrote. Thanking everyone for continuing to sing along to the track since its release in 2001, singer Pink celebrated 25 years of her hit song ‘Get the Party Started’.
The song, a lead single from her sophomore album “Missundaztood,” was penned by Linda Perry. Although it was originally pitched to Madonna, the pop icon declined the track, leading Pink—who was eager to collaborate with Perry—to record it herself. The song became a global success, reaching the top 10 in numerous markets and securing the number-one spot in countries including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Romania, Spain, and Wallonia.
Pink’s career trajectory has been defined by a constant evolution of sound and high-energy stage performances. Her musical roots date back to age 15, when she formed the short-lived group Choice. After signing with LaFace Records in 1995, the group disbanded without a major release, eventually leading Pink toward her solo path. Her debut album, “Can’t Take Me Home,” achieved double platinum status from the RIAA, while her 2001 collaboration on the “Moulin Rouge!” soundtrack, “Lady Marmalade,” topped 13 international charts and earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
Following the massive success of “Missundaztood,” which moved over 13 million units worldwide, Pink transitioned into a pop-rock sound that produced hits like “Don’t Let Me Get Me” and “Just Like a Pill.” Her momentum continued through her fourth and fifth albums, “I’m Not Dead” and “Funhouse,” which featured the popular singles “Who Knew,” “U + Ur Hand,” and her US chart-topper “So What.”
In the years that followed, Pink added to her string of successes with hits like “Raise Your Glass” and “Just Give Me a Reason” from “The Truth About Love,” which marked her first album to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200. Beyond her solo work, she branched out into folk music in 2014, forming the duo You+Me with Dallas Green to release the album “Rose Ave.” Her later studio projects include “Beautiful Trauma” and “Hurts 2B Human,” with her most recent ninth studio album, “Trustfall,” reaching the second spot on the charts. 1 hits with “Raise Your Glass” as well as “Just Give Me a Reason” from her sixth album The Truth About Love, which became her first to top the US Billboard 200.
