President Emmanuel Macron has cautioned that Russian hybrid warfare against France and the broader European region is intensifying. Speaking at an Elysee Palace news conference, Macron confirmed that France has been a direct target of such operations in recent weeks and vowed that these hostile activities would not be left without a response.
To counter these emerging threats, the president has mandated a comprehensive protection plan for national critical infrastructure and vital defence industry sites. This move aligns with concerns expressed by other European leaders, who fear Russia is conducting targeted tests to gauge Western resolve in supporting Ukraine.
