Kriti Sanon is set to headline an upcoming, yet-to-be-titled horror feature, marking a shift in her career path as she seeks to explore new genres. Following positive reception for her recent performances in ‘Cocktail 2’ and ‘Tere Ishk Mein’, the actress has finalized her next project, which will be a large-scale production backed by Maddock Films. This venture represents her ninth collaboration with the studio, and it stands out as her second solo lead with the banner following her National Award-winning role in ‘Mimi’. A source closer to the development revealed, “After receiving praise for her performances in ‘Cocktail 2’ and ‘Tere Ishk Mein,’ Kriti Sanon has finally locked her next project. And her return to a solo lead with the production house adds another exciting d, this marks her 9th collaboration with Maddock Films. Her association with Maddock Films has previously resulted in memorable collaborations.

Unlike the horror-comedy projects previously produced by the house, this film will focus on pure horror. Sources close to the production noted that the team is preparing to mount the film on a grand scale, though specific plot details currently remain confidential. This move highlights an experimental direction for the production company as they venture into the pure horror space.

Kriti’s most recent screen appearance, the Homi Adajania-directed ‘Cocktail 2’, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, achieved a worldwide gross of INR 100 crore within six days of release. While the film saw a deceleration in its theatrical run afterward, Kriti’s individual performance was widely regarded as a standout highlight of the project. However, its collections slowed as the theatrical run progressed. Although the film’s outcome remained respectable rather than exceptional at the box-office, kriti’s performance was a highlight.

Away from the studio, the actress recently shared glimpses of her personal life alongside her sister, Nupur Sanon. In a social media video, the sisters were seen bonding through dance, performing to the tracks ‘Main Heroine Hoon’ from the 2012 film ‘Heroine’ and ‘Sharara Sharara’ from the 2002 movie ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’. The video begins with Kriti lip-syncing to “Main Heroine Hoon” from Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2012 film “Heroine,” starring Kareena Kapoor. The mood then shifts as Nupur joins and grooves to “Sharara Sharara” from the 2002 film “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai,” starring Uday Chopra, Tulip Joshi and Jimmy Sheirgill. Posing and pulling playful expressions as they flaunt their contrasting personalities, the video shows the two sisters hugging.

The lighthearted footage surfaced several months after Nupur’s wedding to singer Stebin Ben, which took place in Udaipur in January 2026. Their marriage ceremonies blended Hindu and Christian traditions, with Kriti playing a central role throughout the festivities. During the Hindu ceremony, Kriti notably carried the ‘phoolon ki chaddar’ for her sister, later sharing an emotional reflection on their bond, in which she recalled cradling Nupur in her arms when her sister was just five years old.
