Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya Reportedly Cast in Fourth

Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya are reportedly set to headline the small-screen adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ popular romantasy novel, Fourth Wing, for Prime Video. McGregor, known for her appearance in the mystery drama We Were Liars and as the daughter of actor Ewan McGregor, is slated to portray Violet Sorrengail. In the narrative, Sorrengail is an unassuming scholar who finds her aspirations of becoming a historian thwarted when she is coerced into becoming a dragon rider by her high-ranking military mother.

German performer Emilio Sakraya, who previously worked alongside Anthony Hopkins in the Peacock gladiator series Those About to Die, is expected to step into the role of Xaden Riorson. His character is a formidable and ambitious figure who serves as the primary foil to Sorrengail. The source material, published in 2023, establishes a intense enemies-to-lovers dynamic between the two at the dangerous Basgiath War College, where cadets must either succeed as dragon riders or perish. This book is the inaugural installment of a planned five-volume Empyrean series, three of which have already been released to massive global success. As fearsome as he is ambitious, Xaden is determined to join the ranks as an elite dragon rider. The pair are the antithesis of one another, making for a classic enemies-to-lovers arc as they battle their way through the tyrannous Basgiath War College where there are only two ways to leave: graduate or die, in Yarros’ novel. So far, three volumes have been published — selling millions of copies worldwide. Book lovers took to the internet Friday to have their say on the rumored castings.

While Amazon MGM Studios has yet to provide official confirmation regarding the casting, the news has sparked significant discussion among the series’ fanbase.
