US actress Selma Blair was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday following an alleged disturbance aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York. Authorities reported that at least two cabin crew members sustained injuries during the altercation. According to US media coverage, the 54-year-old performer allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another before the aircraft arrived.
Following the landing, the situation reportedly escalated as Blair allegedly assaulted both a police officer and a nurse while being transported to a hospital. A federal judicial source confirmed that the FBI has issued a summons regarding the reported onboard assaults. Blair was arraigned Monday on two counts of second-degree assault and was subsequently released on bail, with a court hearing scheduled for January 19, 2027.
A representative for the actress attributed the incident to a medical crisis, stating, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Delta Air Lines emphasized the carrier’s commitment to safety, asserting that the airline maintains zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior.
This incident follows a similar event in 2016, when the star of “Legally Blonde” and “Cruel Intentions” was removed from a plane on a stretcher after an outburst. At that time, she told Vanity Fair that mixing medication with alcohol caused her to black out and act in ways she deeply regretted. Additionally, in her 2022 memoir, Blair disclosed instances of biting other celebrities, including Kate Moss, often during situations involving alcohol consumption. Including Kate Moss, often in situations where she had been drinking alcohol, she also described in her 2022 memoir having bitten several celebrities.
