Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, presented honours to 12 students from schools in Guangzhou during his visit to China’s Guangdong Province. Sheikh Saud said, “The artwork allowed me to see Ras Al Khaimah through the eyes of a new generation of our friends in China.
The recipients triumphed in the ‘My Ras Al Khaimah – Where Mountains Meet the Sea’ creative competition, showcasing imaginative depictions of the Emirate derived from independent research and artistic vision. Capturing the character and spirit of the Emirate through their own creativity, their artwork offered a unique and imaginative perspective on Ras Al Khaimah.
Participants illustrated diverse elements of local heritage, combining coastal waters, mountain ranges, traditional vessels, historical forts, native wildlife, deserts, and aviation adventures into vibrant visual narratives that captured the essence of the region. The students brought together mountains, the sea, forts, traditional sailing boats, pearls, falcons, gazelles, deserts, mangroves and hot air balloons, alongside scenes of local life, heritage and culture, drawing inspiration from what they had read and imagined about Ras Al Khaimah.
Reflecting on the exhibition, Sheikh Saud noted that the pieces offered a fresh viewpoint of the territory through the vision of younger international peers, describing creative expression as a universal bridge for youth connections.
This initiative formed a core component of broader intercultural exchanges designed to foster lasting relationships between communities in the UAE and China, emphasizing youth engagement.
