Australia has confirmed a 14-member squad for its upcoming home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, with Sophie Molineux named to lead the side. The skipper is currently managing a hip injury, prompting national selector Shawn Flegler to note that her participation will be monitored closely in the coming days. The team is preparing for six white-ball matches that Flegler believes will offer distinct challenges following the recent World Cup campaign.

Injury setbacks have impacted the lineup, most notably with Darcie Brown, who has been ruled out due to a back issue. Flegler stated that Brown was assessed upon her return from the Australia A tour to India, and her potential availability for the Women’s Big Bash will be determined in the following weeks. Meanwhile, Lucy Hamilton is sidelined for the ODIs against Bangladesh because of a mild quad strain sustained during training. Management remains optimistic that Hamilton will regain fitness in time to participate in the T20 portion of the series. The incumbent Australian captain has a troubled history with injuries and has most recently been racing to regain fitness following a hip injury. A statement from CA read “her involvement will continue to be assessed as she recovers from a hip injury.

The squad selection has also resulted in the notable exclusion of Grace Harris. Flegler emphasized that Harris remains a part of Australia’s future plans, explaining that her omission was primarily due to the squad’s reduced size and the lack of opportunities during the recent World Cup cycle. He acknowledged that the player was unfortunate to miss out but reaffirmed her standing in the selection frame moving forward.
